Cert of destruction in the post

Got a certificate of destruction in the post today for a yard car I have, perfectly serviceable car but hasn't been on the road in 2 years. Not declared off the road either.

The car is in my yard, I have the taxbook here in my hand, apparently it was scrapped last week by a recycling yard the other end of the country...?

Can't see this being some kind of scam, I don't see how anyone could gain from it. I haven't got any other kind of stuff that would indicate the reg was cloned. Must be just a mistake? The reg and vin on the destruction cert match the car.

    Ever heard of this before?

Any chance that the VIN on your car looks dodgy or changed?

Nope all looks legit. Stamped vin and 2 stickered vins all match my logbook and the destruction cert. Engine number matches.

Someone made an error maybe while scrapping another car?

I would ring Shannon and ask what happened. Your car is now officially scrapped...
