What happens if screen protector cracks?

I got a tampered glass style screen protector put on my phone.
I was told by the guy fitting it once they're put on they can never be taken off again.
Does this mean if the protect gets damaged I'll have to replace the phone screen as well.
I've been told by others that screen protectors lift off easily.
    Thanks.

It peels off but can break up. Your screen should be fine

They come off easily. You just chuck it and buy another one on eBay for a fiver and stick it on if it breaks.

I took one off twice today while fitting it to the missus tablet .

I think he meant they can't be taken off and refitted.

    Thanks.
I was thinking similar the guy in the shop made it sound like I'd have to replace the screen as well after he had put it on.

I've used tempered glass for years on phones and tablets. Never had issues replacing them. Theres a large chance you won't be able to reuse it . Best to buy a new one

That's exactly what I was thinking. It just didn't make sense. It might have being his first day.
