Tempted as the price has dropped from 2.5k, it looks a nice one.
    Is 2k reasonable?

What are they like on juice?

You haven't linked to a car, rather a conversation which we can't see.

Thanks for the heads-up, edited it now.

2000 seems expensive to me for a 14 year old A4, asking 2500 was a piss take imo. Yes it looks very clean but to me it's a 1500 car max.

    +1
A diesel estate may have been worth the 2k but even so it's a bit steep.

I'd tend to agree and my thinking was offering that at most.

Are they reliable/reasonable on juice? What to look out for?

Bit odd that he wants to swap a nice clean estate for a nice clean estate. Considering its age I'd be offering €800 as you don't know what's wrong.

Says he wont go below 1800.
I thnik 1250 or so would be my limit.

Guess he'll be leaving it for sale for a while so.
Someone might pay 1800 for it but he could be waiting weeks/months. For the sake of 600 quid I'd have accepted your offer tbh - if you'd gone out to see that car.

It's been for sale since late July.

Well then even more so he's mad to turn down an in person offer of 1250.
    IMO.

Would be thirsty enough I'd say, not that it's hard on petrol, it's the cost of petrol.

Its nice but not worth that. You set on an A4?
Some nice Saab 9-3 estates up the years for less.

The brother has an 07 9-3, 2.0 petrol turbo, 170hp, lovely car to drive. The thing is fecking spotless too, like a hospital operating theatre!
Not set on a4, I do like the audi interior tho.

I've actually had both, well A6 but yea the Audi interior is nice place to be. The SAAB's are gerat value for money now though, seriously underrated car in my opinion. I had the 9-3 est and went to a 9-5 est when I found a clean one. Fitted the 'hot turbo' (high output turbo) and remapped. Serious fast car and built like a tank. Swedish strong, like old Volvo's.
