Simplest way to transfer iPhone photos to a Mac?

    Hi

At the moment I plug in my iPhone 7 (iOS 11.4.1) to a usb cable attached to the Mac (10.13.6), then select what I want in Image Capture and drag them to a folder. Is that not long-winded in this day and age? It also takes a long time.

Airdrop has never worked for me (maybe the iMac's too old or I'm incompetent) but what I'd love to see is tap & hold a photo and select 'send to me', 'me' being a designated spot on my Mac. I don't care how it gets there but the cable thing must be old hat now.

iCloud Photo Library. Everything will just sync over the cloud. You'll need to pay for more iCloud storage, though.

I have auto uploads to Dropbox and google photos.
So I simply open those files on the laptop and cut/copy out the photos.

OK Dropbox users, why doesn't it work?

See the attached iPhone screenshot. 'Post' is greyed out. Any ideas?
