Im having a lot of difficulty changing my car this time . Ive a A4 Teknic 170bhp with 104k miles 141

I actually want a Volvo xc40 but hey cant be got or the dealers simply dont want my car.

Any dealer is giving me silly value for the trade in.

Whats the general experience selling a car like this one Done Deal. I suppose it'll be about 14k or something i'm not sure.

Did you import it yourself or buy it already imported?

I have sold 2 cars in the past of around this value. You'll take a big hit on price though and the pool of buyers willing to spend over €10k on a private sale is tiny. Beware ths scammers also.

Give a good clean inside and out and put up as many good photos as possible and include loads of info on spec and service history. Be realistic on price as the mileage is high.

I've sold a few cars over the last few years in around the 20k mark on donedeal including one a couple of weeks ago. There isn't that many customers at that price level however they do exist. The car needs to be well priced alright but you'll need to have patience, it can take 2-3 months to sell a car at this price point.

High mileage second-hand stuff is hard to shift, worth maybe 8000 to 8500 sterling, 3200 Euro for vrt, you can have one imported for 13000. With sterling weak their are a load of margins in the UK and the North

Hi, just curious as you seem to know your stuff on this, I've a 141 320d efficientdynamics, leather, Nav, stop start, keyless start, 80,000 miles, UK import I brought in last year. I was thinking about trading up (or selling myself) next year, what do you reckon I'd get for it?

I would sell your car and buy straight, no trade in, you always get a better deal. When you sell a car yourself you need to be able to take less than you think it's worth. People ask stupid money for cars and can't sell them for months, look at a similar car on donedeal at its cheapest price. Importing that car today can be done for around 13,000, you can buy on donedeal at 13,000/ 14,000. A dealer will ask at least 17,000 for your car, he might offer you 11,000 on a trade and give you no discount on the car your buying. Buy cheap sell cheap.

Yeah, I was thinking that, hopefully it won't be too much of a hassle getting it sold, I certainly won't be dreaming on the price, I brought it over for 16k all in, was thinking to put it up at 13/14k depending on what others have similar up for and see what nibbles...

Best way to do buissness, drive a nice car loss a couple a thousand move on. If you buy a Ford focus it will cost you more than that in depreciation. Your at the sweet spot, the mileage isn t too high, plenty of customers for that car

Yeah, the next thing would be what to go for next and whether to go over again! Thinking an A5 or an XE or XF, I have a hankering for Android Auto in the next car, and the A5 doesnt have it before 2017, was thinking about a 16 reg in the 20k range including VRT and travel costs, was looking at Giulas before I saw sense!! Merc would be perfect with all the tech but they just don't do it for me (apart from the CLS that is!)

Jags are nice but impossible to shift again. Audi, Bmw and mercs are always a good seller. Cls is a nice car and took a big hit with the new model coming out. The newer e classes are nice. The older E350 is a nice enough car and reasonable to tax. Best of luck.

Well that's good to know, thanks very much for the advice, much appreciated!
