Radio making battery go flat

I bought a touch screen radio out of a 2011 golf, I fitted it to my 07 Passat , the connections at the back were different so I cut the original ones off and joined the golf ones on. The radio works perfect just it kills the battery every night. In the mornings there isn’t enough power to unlock the car with the key , what is wrong does anyone know?

Do you have the permanent and ignition power cables the wrong way around?

    What cables are they?

Do you have a volt meter?
I suggest you check with a local auto electrician if you are in any way uncertain, as you can fry the circuits if you get it wrong.

There's a good bit about this on one of the caddy forums I used a few years back. Think there was a change in the radios around 07/08 and putting the newer ones in caused this. There's an adapter you can get AFAIK.
