    Hi all,

Just a quick question. Are all trainee GPs entitled to the 11428K expenses for out of hours work? Regardless of the amount of out of hours work done?

    Thank you :)

From memory I think that allowance was cut to something like mid 10 grand with FEMPI. There are early moves in play to have it incorporated into the salary (I was involved with the IMO on this before I finished my scheme). I imagine you would have to fulfill your obligation to complete the 120 hours plus per year, but I don’t know how they might account for people on mat leave or sick leave.

Might be worth asking the IMO if you’re having trouble with it.

From limited experience working with trainee in OOH and talking to friends who are trainers I think you have to me significant OOH quota's to keep this.

Finished Scheme recently . Its just added onto your salary as a GP REG in community practice. Its was added on regardless of amount of OOH work done . i.e you have to do 120 hours some do way more - no extra pay for this.

Also Vorsprung is correct its now down to 10K + change

I always found the fact that GP reg's don't get paid for much of the OOH work they do in Co-ops esp to be particularly unfair.

If you only do 120 hours then it's nearly 100e an hour. Dint think it's badly
Paid at all. Paid way more than your day job anyway......

a few things with it though - you're a Specialist Reg - yet you remain on the Reg scale.
OOH call do not cover time between 8-9 and 5-6, which still has to be covered.
Huge variability between jobs even on same scheme - half days for trainees in some jobs and none for others.
Few poor trainees end up doing Rota call. 10k for 120 yours ain't shabby 10k for 400 hours ain't great.
Private patient payments are another issue.

    Hi all,

I’m applying for the GP scheme this year. I qualified via the graduate entry route and availed of a tuition loan to fund this.
The GP trainee years are very transparent regarding salary as it’s in the NCHD contract. However, I’ve had difficulty finding a reputable source stating approximate GP income post trainee years i.e salaried GPs. Most of the info out there is related to locum wages.
I’d really appreciate if someone with insight into this could shed some light. I’d like to get an idea before committing to the scheme, as I’d like to have the full picture post-qualification. Feel free to send a private message.

    Thank you
