    Hey,

So I’m going home to go dress shopping in Cork in the next couple of weeks. Trying to get 2-3 places in on a Saturday with the family.

I have a few places that had good reviews but looking for advice if they have a good selection and also off the rack options.

Places are vows in blarney, rice n roses in douglas, say I do in midleton and memories in city centre.

Can anyone recommend any of these and help me cut down the list? Or is there anywhere else you would recommend going?

I'm living in Dublin at the moment so if anyone can recommend places here too to have a look that'd be great!

    Thanks

There's millions of places in Dublin, it all depends on your budget!

So i recent went myself to the following places in Cork
    Say I Do - Midleton
    Memories - Cork City
    Vows - Blarney

Say I Do and Memories were excellent and they ladies were so helpful they really made the experience for me, my mum and bridesmaids that could make it!
In my opinion, I would avoid Vows as I didn't feel they were as interested or helpful. I also didnt like the layout of the shop area where you look around yourself, its was too much stock and cluttered. (out of fairness the changing area below was nice, if baltic!! :))

Happy to answer any questions that you may have!

    Thanks so much Deanov.

Ya i was looking for somewhere that had a good bit of stock to try especially off the rail options as my wedding is only 8 months away. Would say i do and memories have a good selection?

I don't mind looking at the gowns myself but I would want help in helping picking out the styles I had in mind.

Having too many options that I have to look through myself may be overwhelming alright. I think I've narrowed it down to roughly what i'd like.

Both Say I Do and Memories picked out dresses based on what I said i like disliked.

In saying that Vows would definitely have more off the rail items. However what might be good is to go to Say I do for instance first, give a few suggestions, see what suits and doesnt suit you (my dress is nothing what I thought I would actually get!) and then you could ask vows to direct you to those type/style dresses!

Explain the timelines to the shops as there might be designers who take less time than others!

Ya that might be a good idea as Vows will probably be only good if I have a dress in mind so won't be trawling through loads and if they have more stock of the ones I like to choose from.

I have somewhat narrowed it down but you never know I could find something completely different lol. I've only been shopping once so far.

Are the price points/quality of the dresses similar in each place?

Where did you get your dress from in the end? :)

If you're in Dublin, I'd recommend going to Alexander Bridal across from Cineworld. While I didn't buy from them (out of my budget), they picked amazing dresses for me based on what I thought I liked, and then when I tried on a few, picked other ones based on the elements that suited me. They were brill.

Say I Do is lovely but I felt they had quite a small selection.

I got my dress in Rice n Roses, so I have good things to say about them. They weren’t pushy at all and had a great selection. That being said, they were IMPOSSIBLE to get on the phone, and they were a nightmare when it came to booking alterations so I’d say proceed with some caution.

I also went to Cinderella’s Closet and thought they were rubbish. The dresses were stained with tan, they couldn’t find the dress they promised me they had in stock (the whole reason I went there) and the changing area was the size of a Penney’s changing room - not great when you’re trying on ballgowns!

There’s also Diamond Bridal (I think) in town. I didn’t go there myself, but I follow them on Facebook and it looks like they have nice stuff :).

For Dublin shops, I loved Dublin Bridal House in Rathfarnham (got my own dress here) and Tamem Michael in Ballymount. I only visited those two and Fiona Todhunter but didn't like Todhunter at all unfortunately.

To echo Faith's point actually - Dublin Bridal House wasn't pushy at all and they are just lovely people to deal with. Tamem Michael was fab but a tiny bit on the pusher side of things.

We went to diamond bridal for BM dresses and found them great to deal with

The Bridal Corner in Dublin is a great place to look. Got my dress there after trying 6 other shops first!!

That's great. I might try the Dublin ones first and get more of a feel of what i'd like for when i'm down in Cork. :)
