    Travel dept.

Do a tour of Vietnam, across Cambodia and ending in Thailand.

Will take 2 to 3 weeks, but it'll be fantastic.

    Or

Cuba .. just arrive and travel by bus/taxi

Some of the Eastern European countries are looking good.. Slovakia, Poland etc

Or, South of Spain, and get a ferry to Morocco.

Edit. Kazakhstan .. the capital looks super interesting.

I was going to suggest Rome at that time of year too.

It's on my bucket list, never been there, hoping to get it in for an Ireland v Italy six nations rugby match

2 nights Rome, 4 night cruise (Rome-Pisa-Cannes-Majorca-Barcelona), 1 night Barcelona, Home.

get to see a few places all at once, enjoy some nice food.

vivavoyage.co.uk is what I use for good rates.

Paris in the spring is nice, but as it's autumn Portlaoise is probably your best bet.

We were going to go on holidays in October but have postponed now, I was looking at places like Malta, Crete, Croatia, somewhere nearish with a bit of sunshine lingering.

Corsica, and do some of the GR20.

Madeira has great weather, great food, is cheap and has loads to do.

+1 on Seville. You could do the moorish triangle Córdoba, Granada Sevilla. You could also fly into Madrid and see Toledo, Cáceres, Trujillo and Mérida.

    Going to it this October...

I really enjoyed Beirut earlier this year.
Get a cheap flight only to Cyprus and hop across or flights from London or Paris are around €300.

Georgia (Europe) looks amazing (particularly if you are into wine).

Oktoberfest if you love the gargle and have money to burn.

Accomodation might be tricky this close.

While Oktoberfest is grand as far as I can remember (I was there in 1990's couple of times) it's still just a beer festival. If I had to wait most of the year for OH to be able to go on holiday and then discovered it's a to a beer festival I would be slightly annoyed.

Anyway Florence is lovely that time of the year, so are the Alps. It really depends what kind of holiday you want.

And pretty much every bed going books up nearly a half-year in advance.

Just a beer festival......Nothing matches the atmosphere of a 10000 man beer hall. Nothing. Every red-blooded man must make this pilgrimage once in their lifetime.

I'm just back from swimming with sharks, which my wife hates the thought of.
But she knows it means the world to me and she doesn't try stop me.

Getting snotty/restrictive at your partner doing what makes them happy is no way to live.
