I'll be heading up to Belfast in the next few weeks for an event.
I want to pick up some fireworks.
(purchase and use will be in N.I. , no fireworks will be returned to the ROI)

Where's the best place to get them ?
Will I pull off the m1 and onto the B113 and get them at the border, or will they be cheaper /better value further north?

    I'm looking for shop recommendations.

    Shadow of a gatepost
And the black cat is tellin me that
    A glove’s the only way don’t blow....
    Don’t leave me fingerless now
    While the fuse still burns
Throw it back at the juvenile yeah
    Uh huh

    Isn't it ironic?

NI FORUM IS YOUR BEST BET OP.

Saying that, I really wonder why fireworks aren’t properly regulated in ROI and more freely available.

I mean, every year we’ve been hearing them and seein them for as long as I’ve been alive.

    *Bangers and Rockets luv, 5 for 50 * :P

Bolt bangers were the rage back in the 70s. Totally homemade. Made a few in my day and yes, nearly blew my fingers off. Totally not recommended - but good historical example of “making do”

Im happy the things are banned down here. Otherwise it be a thousand times worse with every little d1ckhead firing them at moving cars, animals or people's houses at all hours of the night.

All eyes on Kursk. Slava Ukraini.

Completely agree. Generally tends to be scummers that have a massive attraction to them.

No idea why they're still tolerated up north considering most of them are fired at the Police whenever anything happens.

I don’t think so. I think the fact they’re banned makes them more “desirable” to those people who wish to do those dispicable things you mention.

Once you cross the border in to 'The North Of Ireland' follow the signs to Newry, you will see lots of signage telling you where to buy fireworks. There's specific dates in the UK you can sell them but up there it seems to be 'relaxed' so to speak, the places outside of the border and nearer Belfast will be more inclined to follow the law.
You can only buy fireworks (including sparklers) from registered sellers for private use on these dates:

    15 October to 10 November
    26 to 31 December
3 days before Diwali and Chinese New Year

At other times you can only buy fireworks from licensed shops.

    So.. any recommendations. ?

Legitimate fireworks shops in NI proper will require a license, you have to get one from the county council these days for fireworks. The portacabin ones in and around Jonesboro and Newry are your best bet, and better value in my experience - they do straight €1 = £1 prices.

I adore fireworks but you're right - until we start actually sending scumbags to jail for considerable periods, it'll continue to be an issue.

    Ok, thanks,

My best bet so, is to pull off the M1, and cross on the old road.

    Any particular seller recommended ?

There's a thread in the northern Ireland that's been running for a few years. Lots of good info on there. Search The fireworks factory on Facebook it's just past the border I'll be going up myself in a few weeks.

Here’s an idea- why don’t you start a new one now that you’ve found the forum you were told about earlier in this thread.

    There’s a border?

What’s all the brexit fuss over ?

btw... fireworks are classed as explosives, which probably makes you a terrorist.

    Are you catholic?

I haven't gone up in years (tend to just buy off friends these days) but in my experience back in the 2000s, different ones opened and closed each year and had different stocks and prices. Best bet is to drive around the area and call into a few different ones - around Jonesboro, they're all within a few minutes walk of eachother anyway, and The Fireworks Factory also has a few competitors nearby who literally set themselves up in portacabins on the side of the road each year.

As far as I remember, some of them advertise with gigantic billboards on the main road, so it shouldn't be difficult to find them. But as I say, it's been a while for me so my info might be out of date.

FireworksRUs have a van. Top quality, and they will haggle.
