I have virgin media in my apartment via UPC box on the wall. In the other corner of the room, there’s an old NTL box marked with TV and FM. Would the internet signal also come through this if I got the right wires and connected my Virgin Media hub? It’s in a more convenient spot in the room

You need to connect both to the TV side, you’ll need a splitter for this if you have a separate TV set top box.

That’s assuming the socket actually works. Should be very easy to check.
Note that some newer cables just push in as opposed to screw in.

It's possible that that old box is disconnected. Might want to check that first. I have a hunch that it won't work because VM probably ran the new cable into your apartment for a reason.

    A picture might be useful.

Woop. Hopefully it’s good enough quality now.
