I have two dry heifers Lmx, around 550kg, 24months old.
I have plenty grass so I plan fattening them a bit.
Is it better to finish them before 30 months?
What is the most suitable cost effective bag feed, nuts meal etc.

I seem to have bent the bar in my malone semi offset topper, the one the blades bolt into, it happened the last time I used it.
I can see circles in the cut grass and looking down along the bar there is a slight bend.
I'm not sure how it happened I've never broke a shear bolt.
Can I continue to use it like this or will it damage something else, bearing etc..

Regards the heifers get a finishing rashion. I have cows in on slats on haylage and 42% maize rashion on ten kg a day. Thy are starting to move. I know it would be more economical to have them at grass. But suits me this way. I would say six kg of per day of a high maize ration or higher if you want to kill them earlier. They could be finished when six to ten weeks from the time you start feeding and how much you feed them. Definitely kill them before 30 months or you will get the cow rate
