    I'm currently working in landscaping after working in tech support ( office-based ) for nine years. It's been an adjustment after being sedentary for all that time, I did manual labour before that job and I enjoy the work for the most part, but I'm coming to a crossroads where it's looking like I'll have to go back to office-based work to earn better money.

    I have some IT experience and certs, I don't want to go back to a call-centre support team and I'm looking at desktop support roles. Are these roles generally busy or is there a lot of downtime involved? I worked in an IT department years ago for work experience but they mainly had us frankensteining old computers out the back and carting stuff around on trolleys.

    How long have you been away from IT ?. What Certs do you have ?. What kind of tech support was it ?. Was it Lv 1 tech support ?.


    Deskside support can be as busy as you won't it to be. But you will need to know phone systems, networks, Mac, Windows, UNIX, VMS, Hardware issues and how to repair hardware assets, Software that is used in the offices such as outlook, Jabber and SAP.

    Have you ever looked into any of these areas ?.

    What are your people skills as in person ?. As communication is key for deskside support.
