How to get on the cancellation list for a test

    Howdy folks,

Hopefully someone knows the answer to this. My girlfriend has applied for her test and is waiting for a date. She needs to get her licence in the next month for work but is unlikely to get a test before then.

1/ How does she get on the list for cancelled tests?
2/ If she is offered a cancelled test date, can she turn it down or does she have to accept?
3/ Can she simply call individual test centres and ask if they have any cancelled tests? She doesn't mind where she does the test.

    Thanks!

    Ring them.

The number is down that page. Say she will take a cancellation and name the areas. Not sure they take cancellation requests for the whole country.

I don't know what happens if she then rejects it. I would imagine a dim view would be taken.

    Hi
If she cancels a cancellation test she will loose her place and will have to pay for a new test

Tell her to ring for a cancellation test and they will tell her if there is any dater available
If there is no test available keep ringing every day
    Hopefully one will become available

But foes she have the option of whether to accept the cancelled test in the first place?

    Example:
Do they say: "We have one next Thursday at 2pm" and then she has the option to accept it or reject it.

Or does she have to accept the first one they offer?

No is the answer to that. If they say we have one you can say I can't make it then. I'll ring back tomorrow. Ring every day. My nephew got a test this way.

As far as I know the process has changed recently
My daughter applied for test in May, was moving abroad this week for year
Trying to get a cancellation test since July, her instructor told her to ring every day
The lady on the phone said there’s now one list per centre, you go on it and they ring down the list each day to get someone if there’s a cancellation available
She moved yesterday and never got called, now has to hope she can get test at Xmas when she comes home
She emailed them to explain this and request
but it’s a bummer as she won’t have been driving for 4 months and I had to put her on the insurance for car as her Aviva driving school insurance ran out while she was waiting for cancellation app
The lady on the phone also said you can only go on the list for the centre you applied for
Otherwise she’d have tried for where we’re from where she would be reasonably familiar with the roads
The lady said there’s very few cancellations now as people are waiting so long
23 week waiting list in Churchtown which is where she applied to

I don't know how exactly these things work officially but I got one by calling literally every day. Once they had two on that very same day which was too short notice for me. It was really discouraging most days as I kept being answered with 'no' but randomly on one day I had the choice of two suitable dates. So it seemed to me that the way to go would be to not be shy about calling them every day, twice a day even if so inclined. They also sometimes mentioned they had dates in nearby centres which I wasn't confident to accept. Regarding cancelling the cancellation test, my impression from my contact has been that it's the same as any other - if I were to cancel it with less than ten days notice, I'd forfeit the test fee and have to reapply, otherwise I can postpone it once more if I choose.

Oh and it's the same call centre for the whole country I think, and they seem to be able to load up the next month for any centre in the country.

Ring ring and ring if you want a date. There are so many people on the cancellation list they don't have staff to go through it so only way to get one is by ringing.

Your daughter should have kept calling every day, I called the last week of July and was able to get a cancellation slot the following week in Churchtown. They were able to give me the option of two cancellation slots. They are only going to refer to the list if no one has called that day to claim an available slot.
