Heard about this as an option if short of straw, wondered if anyone ever try it?
Obviously need to scrape wash and lime every day

The lack of grip is what I would be worried about, haven't done it myself

There's a mat system that runs wall to wall. Grip not supposed to be an issue. Teagasc had a leaflet on it at one of the drought meetings. Seemed to be fairly cost effective priced against straw this year. I'd imagine floors would want to be good for it though.

I used mats as a lie back. Easyfix mats with dimples on them. Have to be manually scraped. I found cattle very dirty on them and took them out.

Sure it must be impossible to scrape clean mats with dimples ,if cows was on hay in calving shed with ordinary mats it would be easy to give it a run of hand scraper and keep clean might take no longer then bedding cow with straw
