    Hi guys,

    Looking for opinions here.

I've a 2009 Mazda 6 2.2. Wouldn't start last week ( Push start ignition red light and red key light on dash solid) and had to be towed to my local Auto mechanic. After 2 days couldn't get any error code from ECU. Power going to ECU but no read outs.

I towed it into Mazda main dealer and they came back today with issue being Ignition control Module.

    €650 for the part
    Plus €500 for labour .
    Ouch.

My question being, does that sound right? Looking online the part seems to be €50 max. The issue I have is my local auto mechanic cannot do the job as the ECU isn't giving readouts at all yet Mazda can get the fault code somewhere ( the main dealer sent of a report to Mazda the other day )

€1200 vs €50 and labour for the part seems like some serious difference in price. I'm at a loss on what to do now. The car is worth €4000. Putting €1200 seems mental.

Ask Mazda for the part number and see if it corresponds with the part your finding online for €50. If it does, then buy it yourself and get your own mechanic to fit it.
