I was doing some work yesterday and noticed that the window installers never used nearly enough expanding foam. This is the top of the window. As there is very little foam not filling and sealing the space it's a heat loss issue at least. I reckon two possible reasons. Incompetent installation or maybe some profit on the leftover foam. Thoughts?

Thanks for the reply I was under pressure and didn't have any foam so stuffed it with insulation and plastered over it. Job done. But bad form on the installer.

Yes definitely bad form from the installer.but glad you seen it and fixed it.most of the boom built house,s all have mj windows that the builder,s fitted no foam and wedge,d in no screws or fasteners.just plastered the inside and silconed the outside.i watched two guys fit them this way.and asked why no screws or foam.there answer was screws cost money and there boss said wedge them in.
