    Hi all
About 2 weeks ago I was diagnosed with Testicular cancer. It's pt1 classical seminoma. No spread anywhere. My question is should I claim my special illness cover? My insurance company Irish Life state that "Any malignant tumor positively diagnosed with histological confirmation and characterised by uncontrolled growth of malignant cells and invasion of tissue" is covered. Invasion of tissue ? I read on one UK site that "pt1 tumour it is invasive, even if it didn't invade the surrounding tissue. A tumour is invasive". That was written by oncologist? Will that be right? Is there anyone will similar case in Ireland who claim successfully? Thank you for your replies

    Hi Adam,
I'm sorry to welcome you to the club...I'm a Prostate C Survivor myself.
Not sure about your Testicular Cancer staging ...haven't looked it up ;)

However...If it is invasive, then yes, claim on your C.I. policy. Have a good read through the T&Cs of the policy. Some demand that you notify the Company within a specific time period of diagnosis (mine was 3 months)....as if you didn't have enough sh1te on your plate, without having to worry about deadlines & paperwork!

Be aware that Insurance Companies are absolutely notorious for putting barriers in the way of C.I. claims. As the solicitor of a late colleague of mine said to him "Irish Life is a small print company" ...They were fighting him right up to within 3 weeks (yes 3 weeks!) of his death.:mad::mad:

I got the run around myself from 'Enemies Last', who, in the end, settled after I initiated a complaint to the Ombudsman.

Long winded answer....So, yes, Make the claim, but be aware that I.L. may have a different definition of Invasive to that of your consultant.
