Don’t you need to have a CVRT done to tax it?

You will also need a tax clearance cert for the first time you tax in as commercial

Have you taken out the back seats?

Depending on the MTO, you will either have to get it inspected at the office or bring hard copy photos (inside and out) including the reg in the front and rear photo.

    Which MTO are you using?

Make sure you bring hard copies of photos.
Show front and rear with reg in view. Also internal photos to show work done.
We needed them when been had conversions in for inspection.

where ? never heard of this before ?

    Everywhere.

    Goods or commercial vehicles

There are additional requirements when taxing a goods/commercial vehicle. If the unladen weight exceeds 1,524 kg (3,500 kg Gross Vehicle Weight), a weight docket (from an authorised weighbridge) is required.
If the unladen weight does not exceed 1,524 kg (3,500 kg Gross Vehicle Weight), a goods declaration form RF111A (pdf) (from Motor Tax Office) is required. This must be witnessed in a Garda station.
Additional proof that the vehicle is being appropriately taxed may be required, such as:
    • Current commercial insurance certificate for the vehicle
    • Evidence of registration for VAT
    • Tax Clearance Certificate
    • Notice of Tax Registration Form

You would only need an unverifiable policy number.

Mine is a random sequence of numbers ;)

Not sure where you mean for KCC but Kerry County Council deffo require all that stuff.

I changed from one commercial vehicle to another a few years ago and the new one wasn't originally regged as a commercial on the logbook.

Had to jump through hoops for them, they were the first council to trial run this whole new procedure and the rest of the councils were to follow suit.

The weight cert is only valid for 3 days as well if I remember right plus not only did I have to provide tax clearance I had to provide proof from revenue that I couldn't continue my work in a private vehicle.

Different KCC - Kildare CO CO.

Sounds like hardship though, such an amount of unnecessary shyte for the sake of a vehicles classification on paper....

It's not though, it's for a discount on motor tax from generally a four figure sum annually to 333.

When you know what you're talking about come back to us!

For first time commercial taxing. A commercial insurance policy needs to be shown at the time of taxing.it can be done online after that with no verification needed.

Not needed from kildare county council when I taxed a goods vehicle at the goods rate for the first time.
Policy number only. Which was for a vintage policy.

Just for anyone searching this in future.

Got it all sorted today. Went to the tax office with my

    Engineers report
    Crvt cert and disc
    Rf111a goods only declaration
    Rf111 Change of particulars form
Weight docket from authorised weigh bridge

That was it. No inspection or any thing like that. Jobs done just waiting for my new log book.

Thanks to everyone for the help. All in all was a very easy process
