With Peter Browne retiring from RTE radio which means the final Rolling Wave was tonight.
Peter stated tonight that there will be plenty of repeats and trad documentaries to come in its place, but it looks like there will be no 'presenter led' traditional music programme on Radio 1 for the first time, probably since the start of RTE radio.

I thought he said it would be back, but with a different presenter? I think the repeats etc. are only fillers until the new season starts.

You only miss these things when they're gone. Always enjoyed the Rolling Wave show, good variety of topics. So hopefully it'll be back.

Lots of trad though on RnaG still. I often tune into it in the car just for that.

I'm sure I heard some other presenter (Lilian Smith in the morning, maybe?) saying it was just Peter Browne that was retiring, the programme is going nowhere.

I guess there is Ceili House with Kieran Hanrahan, though that is more live from Comhaltas branches, GAA clubs and the like.

Peter Browne was also a producer on many music programmes on Radio 1, such as Late Date.

Ian Wilson, another radio producer in RTE is retiring this year too.

Well known for producing Dave Fanning and live and dance output on 2FM since 1980.
Currently produces 'Countrywide' on Radio 1 Saturday mornings.
