They're now just called Ram. Now part of Fiat-Chrysler Automotive so Italian owned. Hence why the Pope has one

This claims the pope drives a Carina car

Maybe someone should tell Seamus Moore that the original Popemobile wasn't a Transit.

Definitely the Fiat Chrysler connection. Jeep are a big seller now in Italy even producing a few there.
Was more surprised Fiat didn't get in with the Tipo as the Popemoble. Maybe because the distributor is so hopeless here and Skoda Ireland were ahead of them. Much nicer car than the dismal Rapid but probably cheaper.

    This comes to mind!

The sh1tty car for the pope might just backfire on skoda Ireland.
The whole thing looked like some kind of joke when you consider there were numerous Audi Q7 within the motorcade. It's just optics but a blind man could see it for the folly it was.
If he had arrived is a large skoda suv, you could say they did well to place their vehicle there but this just painted skoda as a sh1t box.
When you consider that there were 2 aer lingus airbus A321 following him around, the sh1ty car is even more of a joke.

I'd say looking at the demographic attending the papal events that Skoda Ireland were right on the money.
A nice dependable car would go down well.

Skoda knows the crafty mentality in Ireland all too well, they want a new car, but they want to pretend to the neighbors they don't have too much money, and pretend that they are sensible enough not to buy a dachia.

Skoda are the new Toyota in Ireland.

Toyota Ireland seems to be loosing touch with their fan base. There's no way they would have let Skoda beat them to the Pope stunt a few years ago. It would have been a corolla saloon no question.

He requests small cars when he goes on visits.

Probably doesn’t want people making a fuss.

Dont think the Pope wants to be showy offy, either at home, or away, Skoda probably jumped on this, and I'd say offered one of their smaller cars, as advert. As for the Aer Lingus Airbuses, the Pope always usees the National Airline of the Country he is visiting, Air Aitalia is only used for flying into the Country he is visiting

I get what youre saying but the dodge just looked out of place in the video clip among all the audi suv.

And fair play to skoda, it is not that long ago that they were a punchline for a joke and the car in front of you was a toyota,
nowadays the car in front of you is likely a skoda, or at least one of the vag group anyway!
