    Howdy folks.
Planning on changing car fairly soon and these two are top of the list.
Looking at buying a 2010-2012 superb elegance or sline le mans a6.
Looking for something comfortable and fairly reliable.
Both are pretty rare in the spec that I would like.
Has anyone owned both by any chance and could give me any info or advice.

Haven’t owned either but we are looking at an A6 Avant or a superb combo when we eventually replace our s-max. I had an A4 for 7 years until we had kids.

For us the A6 would be really nice to have and would be practical most of the time. Audi interiors even in poverty spec are really good.

However the superb would most likely clinch it as it has a larger boot space and I believe the rear seats are wider too. Nice to have a little room in the middle seat when the outer two have child car seats installed.

Thanks. I should have added I'm not worried about the space or child seats etc. I currently have a skoda fabia vrs and the back seats are hardly ever sat in!
I'm just after something more comfortable than it.

If it was myself in your situation it’d be the A6.

A Passat should probably be in the running too?

Haven't seen any in the spec and colour I want but I would consider one

Skoda will basically have the same running gear as an A6 and is probably one of the best all round cars you can buy these days.

Engines and gearboxes are all the same and in the budget will have lots more tech than an A6 - might even get a newer model for same money too.

Superb is same running gear as passat and a4?

Engines and gearboxes are shared across the entire VAG range but Audi used unique platforms in the likes of the A4/A6 as their engines were mounted longitudinally rather than transverse.

I've looked at A6s up north, and with VRT, worked out much cheaper than purchasing down here. better resell on value too.

Any I have seen are pretty much the same price.

Just on this thing I always hear about spec higher on the likes of a superb against an a6

Do people mean the spec is closer to top spec more often on a non premium brand or the overall spec is better?

I know there's endless optional extras on premium brands but surely they have things in them that a non premium doesn't even have an option for?

I know my 06 e60 has things I don't see on newer non premium brands......sports seats, traction control, auto gearbox, tiptronic, radar parking, one touch indicators. State of the art for the time infotainment display. Bluetooth.
Doesn't have folding rear seats though for example. And plenty of options left unticked.
Can't see a superb or alternatives from 06 or recently after having many of them.

Is a superb like in the question here actually better specced than an a6 from same year? I know money isn't like for like though. But surely some things are in the a6 as standard not even available on any superb

Genuine question, I see it crop up a lot

The superb has front and rear parking sensors the a6 only rears. Rear heated seats in superb optional extra in the audi. Superb has fully electric memory seats in front audi has electric and manual. Fully electric was an option.
That's just a few I have noticed. Bound to be others.
I'm talking about an elegance spec superb v an sline le mans a6 2010

Took the plung and got an A6 this summer. Went to Scotland and got an171 A6 for the same cost as a 171 avensis here. Sold 12 Avensis on done deal for more than any garage would give as a trade in. A6 automatic with good spec. Look into Scotland or England as they a lot cheaper than Northern Ireland.
