2013 Seat Ibiza 1.2

    Hello everyone,

Looking to buy a car. Budget around 7k there abouts for the actual car. Not a tonne going around, trying to buy off dealers and seems to be a lot of fluff going.

I never really considered an Ibiza but I do know some people who have them and apparently they're a recommended first car so I got looking.

What are they like? I commute about 30 mins each day, 30km each way and then would have a general but of driving on top of that but nothing massive. I saw some mention of people saying that it was a "city hopper". Would I be best avoiding it if I commute 60km a day thereabouts?

Here's one I was looking at:

    Thoughts?

    Thanks everyone

They’re a grand car. I went all over Spain in (a diesel) one and it never felt lacking.

Wouldn’t be a fan of that 1.2 engine though.

That particular car has 3 owners on it, which is a lot for a 2013 car.

What would be the issue with the 1.2 engine?

Yeah 3 owners in 5 years doesn't sound too great which works out at about 2 years per previous two owners. Would you consider it a bit of a deal breaker? Car looks in great nick and they say they have full service history.

You’d be the 4th owner in 5 years.

The 1.2 engine had issues earlier in its life, not sure if they were resolved by 2013

I’d have a Kia Rio over the Ibiza.

I would presume this guy has bought to sell rather than buy to use and then sell so although technically 4th owner it is likely its second owner sold the car to this guy recently...would that be somewhat correct?

Yeah I did read about those issues somewhere, I guess I'd have to get my mechanic to inform me on that one if I was to go look at it.

No, garage owners don’t count as owners. The number of PREVIOUS owners in the reg cert is shown automatically by donedeal.

Oh okay I didn't know that. So when the dealer buys it the last owner isn't considered into the 'Previous Owners' section?

Nope, they don’t do the usual change of ownership. There’s a specific form they fill out.
