    Hi all,

Pleasure and beyond anything I can imagine to get to work with Mik. Delighted with the job he did on our latest release.

Just came out last Thursday (August 1st) got played on totally Irish on Sunday prior. Dan Hegarthy is due to play it when he's back in, so hopefully give us a bit of a push before our Album Launch on August 30th. Which i've got concerns about the attendance.

Its in The Grand Social. Was told originally by someone the capacity was 150. Now i'm told it looks empty unless it cracks that number.

Anyways enough waffling. Here's the track

Our new track "Hold On" we reckon it is the most pure sounding grunge song that can be written in 2021

That stuff is savage. Fairest of dues.

Can really hear the influences. Very well produced. Definitely going to try and catch this live when life finally regains meaning and we get to go to gigs again.

I especially like Sane, resonates with me.

We saw Mik Pyro in 2019 in Whelans, that man is some talent. The guitar is like an extension of his body. Shame that even if you have talent oozing from your pores in this country, it doesn't remotely matter unless you're Dana's cousin or Dave Fanning's brother-in-law.

Cheers man, delighted to read that. Yeah seen him a few times in 2019 myself. Was that the big Whelans gig near christmas? was a bit of a mad show, he's definitely a character

Just going to offer a bit of what's hopefully taken as a bit of genuine constructive feedback.

I've followed your progress for quite a while and it has to be said there's much to admire about Strangers With Guns, the work ethic, tireless promotion and prolificacy and frequency of availability of new material are all qualities that are to be hugely commended. The production on all the tracks so far has been absolutely massive and the clarity/separation between instruments is almost on a par with stuff that receives commercial airplay. Your videos are absolutely gas, there's no end to the creativity there and I've caught you two or three times live and you're really tight, you always go down well and you're getting great gigs. But I do feel there's something hindering your progress further.

    So what's the problem?

The Vocals. There's no other way of putting it, and there's no way to say it without sounding harsh. But they're the downfall of many an Irish band, and for me anyway the relegate Strangers from "Great Band" status to "Grand/Meh" league. I think earlier on they worked to a point, tracks like Somebody Needs a Hug were right on the money. But the approach is so simplistic and limited that the joke has worn thin, it's literally the same thing over and over. It has to be rectified because there's good creativity and difference between the tracks musically but the vocals make it sound like the same thing, it's especially grating when you have an energetic track, the approach takes that energy away and you're left with a lethargic couldn't be arsed vibe. I used to really look forward to your videos/tracks dropping but these days I'm finding I listen to the opening riff, then turn it off once the vocal drops.

You did to be fair try something different on Fu*K the American Dream, we were getting something matching the energy of the track but in hindsight it was only a vague variation on a theme, basically the same style just louder.

There are glimpses of potential on some of your tracks, When and Perception offer something of what I'm talking about, In fact When really reminds me of Porno For Pyros musically with an Alice In Chains type vocal - I'd listen to that all day. It contradicts most of what I'm saying because it shows that you do have a great voice, it just makes me wonder why more of that can't be spread across your records to elevate the choruses somewhat.

Getting to the end of this epic piece here, you guys have so much potential and have gotten so much right. I'm only bothering to write so much because SWG really take me back to my teens, discovering bands like Therapy, Helmet, Kerbdog, Tad etc all of which there's more than a lick of in your own band but in the case of say Helmet, Therapy and Tad for example, they all had/have vocalists with a limited enough scope but they were able to maximise that ability, those bands had huge memorable choruses. SWG at the minute, for me is just falling flat.

You're so focussed on keeping the hard work up (Again, I applaud this) and I'm fully aware that when you're involved in a project it can be so hard to see the wood for the trees, but I'd love to see you put more time into the vocal department, you work so hard on all other aspects but there's a feeling when it comes to the vocals of "It'll do"
