I was unemployed for 7 months this year and recently started a job. As I had only earned social welfare i thought i would be paying little to no tax until later in the year?
Looks like i am paying full tax on my wages currently. Do i just wait and claim it back or do I have anything to claim?

Jobseekers benefit is taxable but jobseekers allowance isn't. Which one were you on?

What does your payslip say re basis of taxation? Normal, week 1 or emergency? Have you registered your employment with Revenue?

The tax due on the social welfare (if any) will be collected by reducing your credits next year, most likely. It wouldn't be affecting your tax/wages now. Did you register your employment and get a tax credit cert, as above?
