RA - how often should you see rheumatologist?

Diagnosed with RA about a year and a half ago. After the diagnosis I had a follow up with the rheumatologist about 6 months later. At the time my medication was pretty effective. The last few months I’ve been having a lot of flare ups and needing quite a few courses of steroids. I’ve heard nothing more from the rheumatology department though. Should I be asking my GP to refer me again or will they eventually call me in? I’m a medical card patient so don’t expect very frequent appointments, but surely I should of had a follow up in the last year.

Did they put you on long term medication ?
If so, its normal to get a repeat appointment every 6 months, as repeat presciptions only last 6 months
