Smart home heating for renters

Our plan is to build a house in 12-18 months and just wondering if anyone can recommend a smart heating control for a rented property? the rented house we live in is heated by oil, dual zone, and has a immersion switch

Owner is pretty easy going and doubt he'd have any issue with the installation, contract is finished with Bord Gais so open to switching supplier if a deal was going

    Any advice would be great

Maybe Tado? Switch out the existing thermostats with Tado ones, keep the old ones safe somewhere and switch the old ones back in when you leave, taking the Tado's with you to your new home.

I mention Tado as they have great flexibility and should work with whatever "normal" * heating system you install in your new home.

    * Might not work with some very cutting edge systems like solar panels, heat pumps, etc.

Of course when building your new home, come back here for advice on how best to wire it for various smart devices and advice on best modern heating systems, etc.
