Big bike. Was it belong to Frans Maassen?!

Would be great if he had won Amstel on it alright. When I got it first I checked the year of manufacture by emailing Colnago but they said it was made in 1997. Buckler were gone by then I believe so unfortunately not. It does have a name sticker on it with "Whiskers". There is a story there but not quite sure what it is.

seriously big! i suspect that could be putting a lot of otherwise interested people off.

Probably so. Think a lot of taller people are afraid to ride frames that actually fit them. I am only 6 3 and it is perfect. I see it all the time. Tall guys riding around on 58cm frames with lots of seatpost showing. It is only 2cm difference after all.

This bicycle looks beautiful. I'm considering swapping my road frame out for it, just wondering in terms of performance how it'd fair compared to the modern lads.

Any idea how much the frame weighs?

Would also be interested in meeting up and having a look, it's my size and 330 is a bargain.

It really is a beautiful frame. It is just the frame btw. The question of steel v carbon is very personal really. For me I prefer it to carbon. I find carbon very flexi and feel I lose power. There is no loss for me with the steel plus this Colnago has the famous straight power fork which is renowned for responsiveness. Weight and steel is never going to a question with a happy ending? There is a compromise with steel and you have to be prepared to accept it. The extra work required to push the extra couple of pounds burns more calories and saves weight on the body so it's neutral! Haha. Happy to meet up and let you have a look. Certainly a bargain.
