Describe your best Team leaders/Managers ever.

    So people can always give out /moan bout people above them such as their Team leaders / managers etc in their workplcw

    However describe your best manger through experience and why you think that person was so great ?

    This May help others out there who are currently team leaders/managers to get advice and bring that into their day job for the better of others

    My best manager was understanding of my home life (new baby at the time) flexible (didn't mind me coming in early to leave early to help out at home. Motivated me when needed (not often but complacency happens). But motivated me rather than scold me.
    He considered my opinions on how the business org operated. And implemented the good ideas.... The poor ones he didn't "destroy". He made me see why they were not fully thought out and allowed me to come to the conclusion they were not good ideas.
    5 days into my job he handed me an easy sale. Helped me get "the monkey off my back" but more importantly made me learn the processes for a sale within the company.

    I was genuinely torn about leaving but at the end of the day money talks and they couldn't come close to what my current employer offered.

    Great idea for a thread. If you've had a good manager you'll know what a bad one is.

    Best managers I've had, created a team atmosphere in that there was no it not my job but anything the team was tasked with was everyone's job. Lots of communication and team meetings. Everyone knew what's was going on, and their place in it. We had a clear schedule. We knew the objectives and when we had achieved them.

    Was flexible and didn't stick rigidly to rules where there was no point in doing so. Manager was also aware of what was going on with everybody and would accommodate what was going on with them. As long as everyone got their work done.

    Manager shared the rewards the team earned. Be that promotions, bonuses, wage increases. Don't take the credit for work other people have done. Gave the credit to the person who has done the work.

    Didn't micro manage and didn't bully anyone. Good manners and professional in how they deal with people and work.

    All of the managers I worked with who did all that were very successful.

    I'll resist from listing characteristics of a bad manager except to say the number one common trait I found is withholding information.

    My best are always also my worst.

    They teach me a lot about management and politics (what to do and what not to do), but they always put me under a lot of pressure (work load and emotionally).

    I'm weird though.
