I remember last year and this year that the hurlers and footballers do weight training at senior level. Would a lot of emphasis be placed on it nowadays? Seems like it's a pretty important part of most players regimes

Most senior clubs would include weight training if they have access to and money for the facilities. Club I was in had pre-season gym sessions as far back as 2006.

Would be nowhere near the intensity of what many if not most senior county teams do. It is also more sophisticated than lads lying on benches pumping iron like in American prison yards.

Current Galway strength and conditioning is Polish chap Kirzsenstein who was previously with Tipp and who is one of those Mickey Whelan type characters is at cutting edge of sports science on matters such as this.
