Sorry if this has been asked before, but just wanted to double check something in the home grant

Got my plug in hybrid this week, have applied and been accepted for the home car charger grant.

Does anyone know if its OK to buy the charger separately or online and then get a qualifed electrician with the relevant certs to do it.

For example, can i buy a charger for say 500 online and then pay an electrician friend say 200, and still get the grant for full 600?

It seems expensive to pay 1000+ for the charger and installation from some places suggested

I see some comments saying both yes and no, so not sure exactly

Absolutely fine. That's what I did and I got the grant no problems.

For people who've got the grant for home charger installation - how long did it take for the SEAI to pay out? I sent in the form on 26 July, haven't heard anything yet...

Does anyone know if the Tesla home charger is ok to use for non tesla cars?

The below link sas that type 2 cars can charge off it but not sure if its ok to use long term if i was to get one installed, they're 530e, which doesnt seem too bad compared to other chargers

Yes, as long as it’s a type 2 compatible car.

    Little help if you please.

Just got €340 returned for the home charger grant. My total spend was €880. Why would I not have received the full €600?

Just want some advice before i ring them.

Best bet is to ring them and ask why.

Turns out myself and the electrician filled out the form wrong. Very helpful lady in the SEAI helped with my query.

    What did you do wrong?

Didn't include the cost of the charger unit as materials. I bought it myself so when the electrician filled out the form he only included his own parts.

So you spent EUR540 on the charger. What is it, a Zappi?
