Rushes sprayed near 8 weeks ago. Ground grazed tight with cattle. Rushes were cut this week. Might be a chance to dry them and bale early next week. Are they safe to use for bedding ??

The label should tell you what time is needed before cutting for silage. 8 weeks should be plenty.

Wouldn't be a big fan of using rushes for bedding myself, but I suppose with the way straw is going you'll not be the only one.

Straw will be like hens teeth here in Kerry

But rushes are not a suitable replacement for straw. And when you spread the dung you will be spreading seeds.

Maybe look at other alternatives such as peat?

You won’t spread rushes on good land as they won’t grow there and if it’s wet land the rushes will be there already.
