Our 8 year old lab has a sensitive tum.
We've had her on Burns sensitive for sometime now, but I'm not happy with it and I want to change. Can anyone recommend a new dry food for us please?
She has a scar on her stomach lining so has a very sensitive tum.

    Thanks.

Maybe ask your vet? We have a sensitive tummy dog who is doing really well on the Burns pork & potato, I wasn’t able to find any other dry food similar so sometimes for variety I will do up a cooked pork casserole sans seasoning with easy to digest veg for Mr C.

All I know is his Vet is impressed with his coat, teeth and physique so the food must agree with him.

I also have a dog with a sensitive tummy, he has had two instances of Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis in the past as well, I went through a number of different dry foods, he did and does well on Barking Heads dry. He also gets Naturo or Forthglade wet.

What about Burns are you not happy with?

I've had a good long conversation with the Vet but she wasn't really committing on anything, just that we should consider trying a different food.

She's had a couple of bad doses in the past few months. We've had her bloods done and ultrasounds, and the bloodwork was fine. ultrasound showed up a scar in her stomach and inflammation. The only thing she gets is the Burns - and we've very strict with her diet. On that basis, we (the Vet & I) feel that the Burns isn't really agreeing with her 100%. We feel it's like she's always on the brink, and a tiny bit of something she gets elsewhere pushes her over the edge - and it's couple of days vomiting bile and the runs and a Vet visit. Which is terrible for her. So looking to change....

I had pretty much the same experience with Burns tbh... I moved to grain free JWB for a spell then onto raw.. If I wasn't feeding raw I'd feed wet food. Feeding dry food to a dog with tummy issues makes no sense to me as its harder to digest.

Raw would be ideal, but, being honest, I don't have the time to be preparing meals for her aswell.

Does wet food not mean wet/sloppy/dirty poos? ...which wouldn't go down well with the little ones & the missus.

    Grain free any good?

There's loads of good quality wet foods these days! I use Forthglade when Bailey has a pancreatitis flare up and all good in the poo dept.

So how do you measure it all out?

Is it a mix of wet & dry daily, or do you just switch to wet when their tummy is upset?

Definitely not! Well, as long as your dog is doing well on it. Two of my three dogs are on a wet food only diet and have perfectly firm stools. The three wet food brands I primarily use are Forthglade, Naturo and Barking Heads do a good wet food as well. They used to eat Lukullus from Zooplus, they did well on that too, they do 800g tins as well.

I'm a big advocate of wet dog food.

Our dog has food allergies and we use Red Mills Leader sensitive and found it very good. Worth a try anyways.

We get ours in pet food depot (http://www.petfooddepot.ie/) if there is one near you.

No my two are raw fed.. so if he's having an attack he's fed every 2-3 hours with just a small amount at a time until everything is settled and the vomiting has stopped.. For his size he'd get 1.5 trays if he was ok and not sick - I just cut it into cubes for him so its easier (he had a piece of jaw missing) to pick up.

Red mills engage (duck and rice) did wonders for my dog. She had a tendency to get diarrhoea or pancreatitis at the drop of a hat, and had cancer. The Naturo wet foods (not lamb as she couldn't have lamb, might have been salmon) was good too.
