So Its that time of year. Sky want ridiculous money to stay so they are gone.

    What I need
    -quick reliable broadband
-basic TV channels (HD preferred) with the ability to record.
    -don't need any phone pack.

Looking at eir (55 pm 12 months) and Vodafone (40 for 6 and then 70 for 12). Anyone got any thoughts on which is better.

Also a lot of people recommending iptv boxes which I can be open to. Just need to be able to record and series link. I do stream a lot from showbox and Netflix but like the convenience of series linking some mindless stuff

    TIA

Consider using your Sky dish to receive Satellite channels and add a Terrestrial aerial to receive the Irish (Saorview) channels.
Feed them both into a new set top box, with the functions you require.
Get your broadband from your preferred provider.

A number of STBs these days can also be accessed by mobile devices to view TV content.

Quite a lot of threads on Boards about these STBs.
Check out Satellite and Terrestrial sections.

    Hi Johnboy

You seem to be fairly switched on. Given the items I listed as priority, would you have any recommendation on which box to get? There are a lot out there....

    Cheers

I don't use a particular STB and have not done for some years, as I have a home system set up to provide TV & Media distribution on my LAN so the media is available to multiple devices both wired and wireless.

So without personal experience of using those boxes I would not be in a position to recommend one.

I will suggest you read about the 'Tiviar Alpha Plus' which is a combo box.
Most users that post seem to consider it excellent.

Also a post in the Satellite section would get more and varied responses I believe.
