Bellx1 at NCH

Hi all, Bellx1 have announced 2 dates in the national concert hall in November it's billed as acoustic-ish with dowry strings. Pardon my ignorance but what is dowry strings. I missed the vicar street shows and would live to see them but I'm wondering what kind of a concert this would be

Im imagining a stage filled with flowers and candles like Nirvana unplugged. It wouldn't be the first time they have borrowed ideas from other artists, did someone say Talking Heads ?

Because Nirvana were the first band to ever decorate a stage with flowers and candles.

Good band but I wouldn't pay to see them live again. At Vicar St they were on stage for a paltry hour and a half. And that included Bowie and Prince tributes (which were admittedly good).

I saw them long long time ago. I think it was the point. It was some time after I had seen Sigur Ros in the Olympia. For the first Sigur Ros song, they had a curtain going across the front length of the stage, and you could just see the shadows of the band members and lights. Spectacular. Went to the Bellies. And lo and behold, there was a big curtain going across the stage for the first song. Dropped it then.

90 minutes isn’t bad for a gig. Unless the artist has an exceptional catalogue, you’re starting to get into filler after that, and can lead to highs and lows at a gig. I was at the Flock night in Vicar. I thought it was really good. Would have loved to have got all nights in, but wasn’t possible.

I am a massive Bellies fan and go to see them most times when they are in Dublin.
I had tickets for 2 nights in Vicar St this year but was crippled with a chest infection so only managed to go to one night. Which was excellent.
I love the sound of this gig. However I live in Wexford and midweek gigs are tricky for me.
Need to look at logistics later

Sigur Ros weren't the first to do that, either.

Great gig last night. Really enjoyed it and it looked like the band did as well! The strings worked really well with the songs they were on. They met fans afterwards for chats and autographs!

On stage around 8:05, short interval around 9, finished up around 10:35.

That did make me laugh.

While I will admit it's not quite my cup of tea, musically (matter of taste-wise), they're great lads and put on a brilliant show for their fans. My good lady is a huge fan and her verdict was "I could have sat there for 24 hours".

(And yer man Paul's dead right about interval drinks. That's a deadly system!)

I thought they were brilliant last night also first time in the NCH and I was really impressed with it. Very intimate feel about the whole gig and they were also stopping anyone recording with their phones, which meant for the first time in a long time you could just sit back and enjoy the music without having a mobile blocking the view....blis

I would be similar music wise but did enjoy it alot.

People in front of us arrived at 8 40,the said during the interval " I know it said show at 8:00 but everyone knows that a show starts an hour or so later"

Guesing it was her first time in the NCH 😂
