Using Spouse's Tax Credits

Currently looking at what benefit there may be if my wife stopped working, and I used her tax credits.

We were married over the summer, and looking at possibility of using her tax credits from January while she gives up her job.

    My income is €50,000.

I have looked at the DeLoitte income tax calculator website, but the results given seem wrong. Maybe however I am out of touch!

It says my income as a single person on 50,000 should be €3046 monthly (similar to my payslip, so assume this is correct).

When I fill in the form as a married person, with a spouse income of 0, it changes to an income per month of €3333.

Would it really only make a difference of €287 a month?
