WEIRD CHANNEL LOSS AFTER REINSTALLING

Ive just done a reinstall, on a Tevion box, and have got all of the channels that I had before but with one kink.

Problem is that Sky news, Pick & Pick +1 work fine with settings 12207 V 27500 until I add the 4 Quest channels with settings 12382 H 275000. When I do this the Sky and pick channels change to the Quest settings and, of course, stop working. If I install the Quest progs first then the others the Quest change to the Sky etc settings.

Before doing the reinstall all of these channels worked perfectely.

If anyone can tell me what I'm doing wrong I'd appreciate it as I'm going crazy over this. It doesn't make sense as they were all working.

Because you're editing an existing TP, rather than adding a new one?

Sorry but I don't understand this reply.

I'm deleting existing Sky News, Pick progs and all Quest, then doing a manual install using the settings as shown.

Yeah, but I think you're entering the settings for one lot of channels, then going in & overwriting these with the settings for the other lot, rather than putting them in as separate settings.

    Sorry, I'm still confused.

To make your answer clearer for me I'll explain exactly what I'm doing and then you can tell me what I SHOULD be doing.

As I said, I'm deleting Sky news, the 2 Pick channels and the 4 Quest channels. Next, because as I see it a channel needs to be open in order to do a manual search, I'm setting the box on a channel that I don't want to keep, opening Manual install, entering one set of settings and starting search. When that has finished I check that those channels are working and save them in Favourites. I then go back to the channel that I don't want and repeat the procedure using settings for the other channels, repeating as above. That is when I find that the first set entered have changed to the same as the second set.

    Where am I going wrong?.
I've done things like this before, though not for a long time, and never had probs before.

The transponder (TP) settings (freq., SR etc.) have to be saved, not just the channel names.

If the relevant TPs aren't already in the receiver's restored original list, you'll have to enter & save them as new TPs: probably just a matter of looking for the right key to press on the search screen.

As I've posted already, all you're currently doing is overwriting, & then overwriting again, the settings for the TP your 'unwanted' channel is on.

I think we're going round in circles. It is the settings that I'm entering, as per my previous post. There is no way on my box to enter a channel name. The search also brings up other channels that I either have or cannot use, subscriber only types for example.
I should have added that when I close down the install box the findings are automatically saved, then I save in favourites.

Thanks anyway, I'll just have to do a random search through google perhaps.

I've never setup a Tevion satellite receiver but had a look online for a manual. Don't know if the menu setup is the same as yours.

Go to Installation -> TP Scan (manual channel scan) -> Sub Menu ADD ->

    Create new frequency (transponder):
Menu item TP: Frequency: set desired frequency
Menu item Polarity: set desired polarity
The new frequency (transponder) is created after execution.
When exiting the menu confirm the safety message by pressing the OK key.
Only after confirmation the new frequency will be created.
For scanning the newly created frequency, initiate the menu item Scan

Do a search of your own threads, & you'll find one practically identical to this from a while back, where the issue was apparently resolved ...

Thanks Cush, this relates to a newer model Tevion, which I have in another room. The one I had problems with has a different set-up procedure.

I overcame the problem by doing a complete automatic installation procedure and all appeared correctly, but now I have all the crap stations to remove.
I think the problem was that I had polarity the wrong way round for the 2 sets of progs. although I'm not sure. The old adage "measure twice, cut once" springs to mind, but in my case measure three times then check again before cutting.

Thanks to Thurston? as well,I'll have a look for that.

Another oddity that I've just noticed is that PBS America hasn't appeared in the list yet this statation has always been there.
When I look it up on the kingsofsat website, in order to do a manual install, it shows a TP of 116 which is all very well but my Tevion only goes up to TP 86 !!.

on those FTA boxes Medion,Tevion, Televees and Triax sr110, the best thing to do is go to channel list and delete all then go to installation make sure its Astra 2a thats selected and choose scan type FREE/FTA and do a blind or network scan. it will add TPs as it scans along. then you will need to rearrange your channels to the way you want them and delete the crap off it.

    Finally, all sorted.

Many thanks to all who posted here. I think I ended up using a piece of advice from each of you as no single method worked.
