Stone pointing

Hi, I'm currently extending and renovating an old cottage. The stone is in pretty good condition despite its age. I intend to make the cottage air tight, insulate externally and repoint the interior stone of the cottage so that the stone finish is kept. I am well aware of the pitfalls of using cement based mortar. My question is, can a hydraulic lime based mortar achieve a suitable finish that will allow the wall to become airtight?
    Thanks.
