Red lump sticking out of dogs penis

I noticed a big red lump bulging out of my dogs private area. One of our other dogs are in heat, so maybe separating them for a while might do something. Has anyone had any experience with something like this ? There’s no transport to take him to a vet right now, so I need to know if it’s urgent enough to call someone or if it might be a common problem. Any help is appreciated!

Are you sure it just wasn't his actual penis?

It could be. But if it is his or is, it’s blood red and like a ball.

Most likely he's getting a little excited with your female in heat. It swells and sticks out. Our dog used to walk around with it hanging out and he'd keep licking it. We'd know the dog 2 doors down was in heat then. Our dog had been neutered for years prior to this but obviously still had urges!

I'd keep an eye on it that it goes back in, sometimes it can swell too much and get stuck in which case he'll need a vet. Is your boy neutered, if not you'll have to be extra strict about separating them

ahaha you don't need to take him to the vet - it's just his penis. It's very bright red and sticks out when they're excited.

I had the same reaction as you when it first happened to my dog. I had only ever owned females before him so had no clue it was normal/

neutered male cats are the same; my youngest when I had an entire female feral in the house used to go round with his little pink doodah hanging out ....

    There's a reason it's nicknamed a dog's "lipstick" or his "red rocket".

A ball doesn't sound right, try and get a closer look.

So you can start but not finish?

Sorry but this thread made me laugh so much.

Reminds me of when we were kids that we ran home crying to tell our parents that there were two dogs"stuck together by a pink thing"

Two of the Muns came round to help thinking someone had done something terrible to the poor dogs. When we got there, the Mum's were like, goback round the front and play around there. We didn't get an explanation.
