    Small mixed breed dog.
Looking for a mild shampoo for regular washing as dog gets quite muddy and smelly after a week of walks!

I use Groom Professional's stuff, I buy from here: https://www.christiesdirect.com/en/Dog-Shampoo/c-127.aspx?BrandIDs=10

It has to be diluted, so lasts a long time for me. Usually 1 part shampoo, 10 parts water.

Great, thanks! Is it suitable for frequent use?
Tea tree might be a nice option

How frequent is frequent? Once a week? You could always opt for a puppy/kitten shampoo: https://www.christiesdirect.com/en/Groom-Professional-Tender-Puppy-Kitty-Shampoo/m-4382.aspx it's fragrance free and usually with the view of being more gentle.

We were recommended to use pantene shampoo for our yorkies and ours actually really good. Cheap too.

Pantene? The human shampoo? You're generally not supposed to use human shampoo on dogs, they have a different pH level to people and human shampoo is usually in line with that, human shampoo can be irritating and dry out a dog's skin.

Yeah that's what I would have thought but the person who recommended it said that pantene on yorkies is fine because the hair is similar to human hair. Ours have never had an irritation to be honest.

It's not so much about the hair, it's the skin. Dogs have a pH level that is far more alkaline than us, so shampoo formulated for humans is actually more acidic in nature than dog shampoo.

We get pet silk from Christie’s Direct for our yorkie mix, but I would say washing 1/week is way too much for any dogs’ skin. Mr C is groomed every 6 weeks and only wiped with a damp cloth if he got really dirty.

A groomer I know recommended using baby wipes and baby shampoo if a dog needs cleaning between monthly washes

The groom professional stuff is great, they have a wide range of shampoos and coat conditioners, I put a bit in a jug of warm water to dilute it and pour over the dogs.
If it's just mud and not smelly, a rinse of warm water when you get home is good, rolling in smelly stuff like fox poo is a different story though, ketchup rubbed in and rinsed, then a shampoo, and hell smell fine. Ketchup gets rid of the stink, otherwise you could wash 3 times and still smell it.
