I saw the new Model 3 it was the basic version $ 35k with an "interstate range " of 310 Miles more around town. They also had the X and S. The guys there were as much about selling solar PV Powerwalls and solar rooftiles as they were about the cars.
We bought a Leaf in 2017 not to save the planet but to save money and it has certainly delivered I'm not a car person but the Tesla 3 is a much nicer looking car. They had no idea when the 3 would be coming to Europe...they struggled with where Ireland actually was.
Interestingly given the location they were offering a 3 Powerwall deal that would get you through both Hurricane season and essentially let you be off grid for a lot if not all the time.
I dont think I can post pictures and you lads have probably seen more of the tesla 3 than my few dodgy pics would do but very space age cabin

That's cool, would love to see the model 3 in person. There is no basic version yet that I know of, the 310 mile range model 3 costs more than $35,000.

You may well be right but thats why I questioned the sales guy his phrase was "This is the basic Unit and it retails at $35k" Must say the shop...this is in the middle of a shopping centre was very busy

LOL, they were overselling that too :D

A fully charged Tesla power wall (13kWh) has enough energy to power an average US home for less than one evening.

They use 11MWh per year per house. Versus our relatively modest consumption of 3.5MWh.

As with all "good" sales folk there is truth/lies and the bit that lies inbetween I wasnt tuned into this sales conversation as such though there was a very nice presentation on screen, tesla roof tiles, covering the massive houses they have in South Central Florida, your power walls storing all that good Sunshine state sunshine, whilst you are at work, IOT to control your air conditioning when your not there. You "could" live off the grid (in theory at least) but if you know anything about sales its all about the Cross Sell get 'em looking at the car sell 'em the powerwall or vice versa.Have a look at ESB and the Dingle Project for where the electricity industry is moving to in the next 5 to 10 years imho

That Dingle project looks a bit meh to me. Where things will move to over the next 10 years is that the EV will become the normal choice of new car, there will be pretty much 100% renewable electricity. And flexible electricity pricing depending on demand (say from 1c to 1EUR per kWh). And there will be a lot of electricity storage because we will produce far more than 100% of demand with solar and / or with wind a lot of the time. In what form that mostly will be remains to be seen - attached to the grid, in people's homes (batteries, EVs), into hydrogen, into heat stores, who knows.

It's a big country and averages very greatly

Good point Louisana tops the usage charts with 1240 kwh per month unit cost of around 10.3 cent Hawaii uses only 505 kwh but the unit cost is around 24c
Florida is 1123 kwh per month so thats 37kwh in a30 day month. It is conceivable that your 3 Tesla Powerwalls would produce enough. Having been out here every year for a number of years is the switch to solar pv and the upgrade in Energy efficiency. I have family here who have moved into a brand new house in the last six months. Now the house is smaller but their electricity bill has been cut by 2 thirds
