Murder charge without a body

Given the recent upgrading of the tragic Deirdre Jacob case is there precedent in Ireland for murder convictions without a body ? Just seems like a few cases where they are pretty confident they know who the murder is but know they wouldn’t get a conviction.

Given the recent upgrading of the tragic Deirdre Jacob case is there precedent in Ireland for murder convictions without a body ? Just seems like a few cases where they are pretty confident they know who the murder is but know they wouldn’t get a conviction.

There was body parts. They couldn't say for certain how she was killed i think.

There were some body parts. But no definitive cause of death I think.

I believe this was the first murder case tried in Ireland without a body being found.

Thanks for sharing. He confessed when confronted though. Wonder if there is any true case of being found guilty purely on circumstantial evidence.

There was one guy convicted of murder in the Republic over Robert Nairac. There was a case in Bantry West Cork in the 80's as well where someone was convicted of a no body murder but that was later overturned
