Tossing a few evergreen trees (Dale, spruce etc) from around the farmyard that would be 30+ years
A guy going to buy for firewood was asking how many ton.
What’s a good way to work this out

Spruce has a density of about 400-700(kg/m3), i.e. it has about half the density of water, but will be denser when wet and freshly cut. Working out the m3 gives you the approximate tonnage.

    I've not heard of Dale.

Cut firewood is normally sold by volume traditionally a cord (3.62 cubic meters). The volume remains constant while the weight can vary.

    A tree 2 ft diameter & 30ft high would be 2.5m3 @ 600kg/m3 would be 1.5ton
Thanks for the help, gives a good understanding
