Hilux vs L200

As a laydeee part time farmer, few cattle/goats/horses etc Im looking to upgrade my 06 L200.

So my question to ye lads and other laydee's is which would you prefer, a Hilux or L200, for driving and towing?

I have been happy enough my L200, I know what Im getting if I buy again, I'd be buying something between 2013/2015. What I need to know is what the Hilux's are like for general everyday use, I would probably tow once or twice a week, two large horses in a horsebox or collecting two large bales in same horsebox. Id be using it to get from A-B everyday and the most Id be towing is probably 60km round trip to buy hay couple of times a month, all other towing would just be local from field to field type of thing. The rest would just be driving with out a trailer.

Both would be bog standard 2.5, double cab, no bells and whistles. I may have the chance of picking a decent enough Hilux as roughly the same money as an L200 (same year roughly same milage) but as Ive never owned/towed a Hilux Id be grateful for any advice, things to look out for when I go to view.

    Thanks in ad vance

Hilux all day. No comparison. Hilux or landcruser are miles ahead of the rest.

The Hilux would be dearer than the L200 for same age.
Think the L200 changed to aluminum engines in 15/16, & supposed to be better efficiency & power.

Had an l200 here never again. The Hilux will be 3000 to 5000 dearer than any other pickup. I now drive a D max which I really like.

The L200 Im looking at is a 14 and the Hilux a 13, similar miles, similar price.

I've had my L200 for the past 9 years, never had any trouble with her, the Hilux is going for a good enough price, my mechanic used to work her so knows she's clean, going to view her tomorrow and give her a test drive.

Hilux all the way, test drive and compare, no comparison.

If you can get the hi lux for anywhere near the same money albeit a year older, snap it up.

is the 2006 L200 the last of the old shape or the first of the new shape?

Had a Pajero sport (same as old type L200) for 9 years. 1 issue but that was down to faulty spurious oil filter.

changed to new shape L200 about 3 years ago. More power than the older 2.5 diesel engine and easier on diesel and more comfortable.

jeep here is used solely for towing. she handles 16ft tri axle with over 3t on it no problem, even thought she would be certified for that

Checking towing capacity of both and what you need also

L200 is the newer shape, like I said I never had any trouble with her in 9 years.....

But seeing as I could get a Hilux for the same price then it's a no brainer for me, went to view her yesterday and she's bought, just need to get a canopy for her and Im sorted, going to collect her next week once she's tested.

I am now a Hilux owner, may she serve me as well as the L200 did.

thanks for all the replies and advice:D
