Driving to UK on Friday, moved houses at start of the month, got my tax disc in post on around 4th then just recently realized u lost my disc somewhere in moving.

As far I know nobody in UK will care that I don't have tax disc, but I am just wondering would there be issue getting on ferry with no tax disc?

I can print email as proof of payment but not sure if that will suffice either for Garda or Ferry check-in?

If I was to get lost disc form stamped by Garda, could I go to motor tax office and get new disc right away? I can take time off work.

Or second option - go to local motor tax office, pretend nothing happened and just say I want to pay tax in advance for another three months, pay on spot, would they give me new disc with new expiry? (currently paying every 3 months)

Won't be an issue but I'd avoid parking it in a public place in Ireland for fear of a parking warden issuing a fine for non display.

Don't think you can tax a car that is already taxed.

According to the below link, you can download and fill out the RF134 form, have it signed by a Garda and then go to your local tax office and they will issue a new disc for €6.

Nobody will look at it at the ferry check in either. They'll check your ticket and number of occupants and that's it. You might get a security check (totally at discretion of customs/security) but they're not interested either.

I assumed they issue on-the-spot discs only for new ones, will try this today.
    Thanks.

P.S - What are the queues like in Motor Tax Office generally?

My tax disc never turned up two years back, I saw that form but phoned them and said I never lost it because I never received it, they said I still needed to pay the €6. No says I, the fault is your end as you are responsible to getting my tax disc to me.
They then said go to my local motor tax office, same story and they issued me a new tax disc FOC no problem after they accepted it never got to me in the first place (which it genuinely didn't).
