Anybody watching this year? First episode has already aired with the second tonight. Looks like it has some potential - Mayfield, Landry, Nassib, Greg Williams should all provide some fun moments. But Todd Haley already looks like he wants to murder Hue Jackson and I can't really blame him :p

Todd Haley saying he turned down 7 jobs to go to the Browns was hilarious. Trying to tell us 1/4 of the NFL wanted him on their coaching staff.

Wasn't that gregg Williams who said he'd turned down seven jobs not Todd Haley ?

Really enjoyed the new episode. I'm liking this season a lot.

Only watched ep 1 so far but I don't rate Hue Jackson much. He just doesn't seem to have the whole locker room with him, nor the coaching staff, which is a pity because he seems a really decent bloke.

    Finished episode 2.

What a joke of a punishment for Callaway. Cited for marijuana? Well you're playing every snap kid! Just makes me lose more faith in him. I'm actually a big fan of Haley but Hue has me worried. Nice guy, but no control it seems.

They have a better team this year but could all go wrong again. Myself and a few friends who make some NFL videos and articles in our spare time actually just did our podcast about it to date. Note sure if anyone is really interested but will post anyway!

Really looking forward to Browns v Bills this week, I don't think they showed us the whole thing with Coleman. Seemed rushed, sounded like a rhetorical question he asked about trading him and next thing he was out of there and for practically nothing!

Ya he was way way too soft on him. Doesnt really set the standard that's needed

Another one worth watching is Training Days: Rolling With The Tide. It’s pretty much Hard Knocks but following Alabama Crimson Tide. It’s on ESPN2 and ESPN U if you have access.
It’s crazy how big and professional a setup they have, every bit as big as most NFL teams.

Can anyone tell me of an investment that returns 10% a year every single year

    Thanks!

Maybe owning an NFL team is the answer

I’m wondering why Jackson was left in place for the season tbh. Even allowing for having a poor roster up to now his record is absolutely abysmal. Watching this show is not inspiring any confidence that he can turn things around on the field. He will almost certainly be gone at the end of the season and it just has the look of a wasted 12 months when they could have gotten someone in with a new approach.

Index funds would return that or very close. In fairness the advice was sound but it was a bit cringe the way it was delivered.

Hue telling his coaches to back off on having guys that have small knocks training, yet the next week throws Callaway in for every snap as a "punishment." :pac:

I'd love to be a fly on the wall for some discussions that the likes of Haley and the other coaches have among themselves regarding Hue :pac:

Still not convinced the OL coach isn't just Mike Myers testing out a new character.

Episode 3 of hard knocks is up on gamepass.

Landry having a little childish tantrum because he wasn't being allowed to waltz upfield and mug for the camera was entertaining, it's nice when we get to see a prima Donna show their true colours. But otherwise I'm not sure the show is doing much to change the perception that it's run its course. Some guys on the fringe will make it, some won't, at the end of the day we've seen it before. Jackson seems to be a likeable guy but I wouldn't see him turning the ship around based on what we're seeing of him.

Meh, I'll watch the last of it but the NFL is too media savvy for this kind of show to still be insightful. Last chance U this season has been far, far more entertaining, mainly because the people involved are so much more flawed, unpredictable, and at times unprofessional. I thought the browns might be an intriguing place to look at, to see how a team like that seeks to turn things around, if anything it seems a pretty relaxed place, given the circumstances.

The real battle for the Browns is ultimately off the field. They've consistently had one of the least talented rosters in the NFL during their second period in Cleveland. Until they start making better decisions the coaching and the X's and O's is of secondary importance.

As it is, they seem to have put together a much more NFL viable offense this year and will win up to 8 games because of that, at least four or five anyway.

Sky Sports had an episode Friday night... was this episode 3?... that massive O line coach featured quite a bit as did a fight between Landry and a D back. Did Sky show episode 1 and 2 at all? seems I missed these.

Yeah that was episode 3 alright. SS have shown the other 2 at the same time the previous weeks. They might still be on catchup.

Hue Jackson really hasn't covered himself in glory at all. Unless they have a good year he has to be out the door.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 950 ✭✭✭nasty_crash

Yeah dont think Hue is up to it as head coach - wants to be everyones friend and it wont work with a lot of players.
I think he prob will be gone next summer if someone like a Harbaugh is available - with the roster and some of the stand out players they have i think it will be attractive job for coaches... rather than the usual aint going near the browns!

Thought this was excellent. Very well done. Key and Peele-esque.

Well the fact that you can finish 1-31 and still keep your job makes it more attractive.
That's the only reason Hue is still around. To let the next coach know he has time.

Hey all, not sure if it's of any interest to anyone but here's part 2 of what me and a couple of friends think about Hard Knocks so far. Covering episodes 3-4. Any different ideas or want to cut into our opinions feel free to comment :P

Only 5 teams can be forced to be on this next season

    - Lions
    - Giants
    - 49ers
    - Redskins
    - Raiders

I'd say the Raiders would be the most attractive out of those. Gruen would be entertaining anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,187 ✭✭✭✭Foxtrol

49ers have been very vocal against not wanting to do it, to the point that Shanahan threatened that he’d make sure there was no entertainment (presumably a semi serious joke).

I’d agree that the Raiders are the favourites, with an outside chance of the Giants due to the big media market and the interest in OBJ, Barkley, and the potential QB drama.

They’ll save the Raiders for their first year in Vegas I’d imagine.
