is this still in place? want to wash my car but avoid the scowls from the neighbors - also if it is still in place, when is it likely to be lifted?

    Hi alsiet2017,

    Thanks for getting in touch.

The national Hosepipe Ban is still in effect, and will remain in place until August 31st at the earliest. Any updates to this ban will be published on both @IWCare and on our website.

    We hope this helps.

    Kind regards,
    Amy

Thanks Amy - understand it is currently in effect however is it in effect in Cork? the article there makes specific reference only to Dublin and the greater dublin area in terms of 31st Aug.  Some more info would be helpful.

    Can you define hosepipe ban?

I understand that cleaning your car with a hose pipe will use far more water than through a pressure washer. Using a pressure washer is usually ok while a hose pipe ban is in place.

    Is this the case?
Can we in fact wash a car with a pressure washer as it is not an open ended hose being used?

If it's a bucket or tank feeding the pressure washer it's ok, hose not ok.

How can a bucket supply a pressure washer?
My question was about a washer not being an open ended hose.
It is a completely valid question.

I've done it no issue. Needed a rigid hose from the bucket to the washer. Often done places where there's no water supply.

So how long would the bucket of water last?
    10 litre bucket?
Would last just over a minute.

I think we've gone past the point of my response now :D

Namely the use of a power hose isn't banned, it's how you supply it.
