As per title, ok on cold but as soon as you put the hot setting on it trips the switch. No issues up to now, in 5 years

Opened it up and a lot of soot on inside cover.

Any ideas ? Would this be a brushes problem...

    Thanks

You have an issue anytime the heating element is used. Therefore there is a good chance that the element is the issue. An insulation resistance test on the element maybe a good idea. Also measure the resistance of the element.

    Unlikely.
The brushes are for the pump motor which seems to be working from what you say.

Ok thanks, I see a heating can is €85 is there anything you can do with it ?

At that price a replacement unit is probably a better buy.....

    Definitely not the brushes.

Your shower is actually at least seven years old. We've had two models since.

If it were my shower I'd put in a new shower. Triton t90sr
