Harrington stable in great form going to try Still Standing 5/2 and timetoforget 3/1 (stable also has another runner in race) in Ballinrobe. Separately Head Turner ran well here couple runs back this looks easier than the Ballybrit race 4/1 (was 6/1 early)

Any idea why it was abandoned?

Seems rediculous that they could put out a statement saying that if the 2nd race was run there would be no refund before the 2nd race. Was it a known issue before the meeting?

“Following the running of the third race, the Stewards received a delegation of riders regarding the safety of the racing surface. Evidence was heard from C.D. Hayes, G.P. Halpin, S Foley, K.J. Manning, D. P. McDonogh, G. F. Carroll and C. O’Donoghue. The riders stated that while the course was well presented and laid out, the surface of the track was giving way underfoot which was causing their mounts to slip. In their opinion it was not safe to continue racing and the application of sand would not improve the situation. Further evidence was heard from L. Wyer, IHRB Clerk of the Course and John Flannelly Racecourse Manager. The stewards also received a delegation of trainers and heard evidence from S. Fahey, G. T. Lynch, G. Cromwell, T. Doyle, G. M. O’Neill, T. Collins and A. Leahy.

Was up in Ballinrobe this evening, disappointing what happen. We were given a ticket that can be used at either of the remaining meetings this season on the way out.
I noticed the horse I backed in the 3rd had difficulties on the final turn for home, but while he looked out of it by then the ground must have been a contributory factor.

    Bit more on it here

They had trouble with one of the bends at Sligo last week too

Irish Field article states majority of jockeys were happy for the meeting to continue and there is no risk to flat racing in the future at Ballinrobe.
