Depends. Will it be solely for the person that died or will it be a general mass with about 5 other people being prayed for (as was the case for our parents parish). If it's a sole mass I'd say 40, but if it's a normal Sunday morning where other deceased will be mentioned I'd give 20-25. Some parishes may have a set amount though. People in my parents parish are fed up with the fact that one mass may be for about 6 people (or more if a few from one family are on the list) so they have stopped giving as much money as when one mass was for one or 2 people.

It will be a general mass, usually there are other people been prayed for as well, I was checking the parish newsletters

Well in that case I can tell you I gave €30 for my dad's months mind last year. Put it in a sealed envelope with your relatives name on it and hand it to priest after mass. No need to refer to the amount. Sorry for your loss.

It's tradition to have a mass said for the deceased a month after death. Don't know what the idea is but it's been around a long time.

You're generous. We'd have given 20e for an anniversary mass.

It is traditional in many parishes to have a Memorial Mass or Month’s Mind for the deceased in the weeks following the funeral. The Month’s Mind is an opportunity to once again commend the deceased to our loving God. It is celebrated in an atmosphere of prayerful remembrance, of gratitude, and of hope in the resurrection. The pain of loss is not quite as intense now, and the Memorial Mass helps us to move forward into the future.
